President Donald Trump stated he wouldn’t rule out searching for a 3rd time period within the White Home, telling NBC Information in a cellphone interview on Sunday that “there are strategies” that may permit him to take action.
“I’m not joking,” Trump stated. “However I’m not — it’s far too early to consider it.”
The twenty second Modification to the US Structure, enacted after Franklin D. Roosevelt was elected to a fourth time period in 1944, prohibits US presidents from serving greater than two phrases. The method for amending the Structure takes years.
“Lots of people need me to do it,” stated Trump, who might be 81 on the finish of his present time period. He declined to specify the strategies by which he may legally serve a 3rd time period. He was elected in 2016, defeated in 2020 by Joe Biden and reelected in 2024.
