Horror continues to dominate the field workplace this October, with new launch Smile 2 taking in $9.4 million from its Oct. 18 opening day and preview screenings. Selection says that is greater than the unique Smile‘s $8.2 million.
The pop star-centric sequel — which Mashable’s Monica Castillo referred to as “much more enjoyable and gory this time round” in her assessment — is not the one horror film to crack the field workplace prime 5 this week. Gore-fest Terrifier 3, which topped the field workplace final week, is poised to return in third after incomes $2.9 million this Friday.
In the meantime, Dreamworks’ The Wild Robotic continues to carry sturdy at second, and can probably cross the $100 million home mark over the remainder of the weekend, even because the movie lands on digital. Rounding out the highest 5 are We Stay in Time, starring Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield, and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, which is on monitor to turn out to be the fourth highest-grossing movie of 2024 within the US.
