THE DISTRICT
This district covers components of Eau Claire, Trempealeau and Dunn counties. It consists of the western half of the town of Eau Claire, together with the town of Osseo and the villages of Eleva and Strum. It additionally comprises the College of Wisconsin–Eau Claire campus. It’s a probably Democratic district.
THE NUTSHELL
Christian Phelps of Eau Claire and Nickolas Butler of Fall Creek are two new Democratic candidates vying for the seat within the Aug. 13 main after Rep. Warren Petryk, R-City of Washington, determined to retire after serving within the Meeting for over a decade.
Phelps is a neighborhood nonprofit organizer, journalist and training advocate. Butler is a printed creator and taught as an adjunct professor at UW-Eau Claire.
The winner will face James Rolbiecki of Eau Claire, the one Republican within the race, on Nov. 5. Rolbiecki works in actual property, however grew up working at his household’s small enterprise. He says he desires to make use of his entrepreneurial expertise to enhance the district.
PRIMARY RESULTS
Phelps narrowly defeated Butler and can face Rolbiecki within the common election.
